Hi! I have a small studio near Petersfield, in Hampshire. Initially I started working indoors, but with a growing family it rapidly became impractical so as a result, we built a shed. This is not your average shed - it is 10ft square with a verandah, heating and light – the perfect escape!
I started making stained glass windows about 20 years ago after my mother sent me on a beginners course to get over the shock of having a baby. A week later I was hooked. But some time later someone gave me a great deal on a used kiln and the world of glass fusing opened up. The rest, as they say, is history.
I love working with glass – the colours, textures and reflectivity make it a wonderful organic material, and I create pieces for the joy I get in seeing my designs come to life, often in ways more beautiful than I had imagined. I constantly experiment and often undertake courses to learn new techniques which I can then use in my own way. Much of my inspiration comes from my children, but a lot comes from the world around me and organic forms found in nature, particularly sea themes. Not only have I spent a lot of my life near the coast, but am also an avid SCUBA diver.
My friends and family started to buy things from me and suggested I start a business, so here I am! I exhibit and sell my work at craft shows and am a member of the Surrey Guild of Craftsmen and the Petersfield Arts and Crafts Society.
